NF C 15-100 compliance is mandatory for any new electrical installation and strongly recommended, even necessary, when selling a property. Since January 1, 2009, a Promotelec electrical diagnostic is mandatory for selling a dwelling over 15 years old. If the diagnostic reveals anomalies that could compromise personal safety (category 3), the seller must repair them before the sale or inform the buyer. Outside of a sale, a non-compliant installation may invalidate your home insurance in case of fire or electrocution. EAD performs complete compliance upgrades with certificate throughout the Var and PACA.

Rewiring an old house in the Var costs on average between €60 and €120 incl. VAT per square meter, depending on the condition of the building and the complexity of the project. For a 100 m² house, the overall budget is €6,000 to €12,000 incl. VAT. This price includes complete replacement of the electrical panel with modular breakers from Legrand, Schneider, or Hager, new NF C 15-100 compliant copper wiring (1.5 mm² lighting, 2.5 mm² sockets, 6 mm² cooktop), grounding with copper rod and resistance control, installation of grounded sockets in all rooms, replacement of switches, and the compliance certificate. Additional costs may come from renovating moldings, chasing into stone walls typical of Provençal farmhouses, or installing a three-phase connection breaker.

Several signs indicate a non-compliant electrical installation: your panel still uses porcelain fuses instead of modular breakers, your sockets have no ground (two holes instead of three), you have no 30mA residual-current device at the head of the panel, visible cables are sheathed in fabric or black rubber, you smell burning near the panel, or your breakers trip regularly. Age is also an indicator: installations dating from before 1990 are very often obsolete. EAD offers a free 30-minute visual audit. Yes, several financial aids exist for electrical compliance work, provided you use an RGE electrician like EAD. MaPrimeRénov' (formerly CITE) may cover part of the energy improvement work including electrical if linked to a comprehensive renovation. The interest-free eco-loan (éco-PTZ) can finance the work with no down payment. Some Var and Alpes-Maritimes local authorities offer local subsidies for energy renovation of old housing. For owners of second homes, specific aids exist in certain municipalities. The duration of electrical compliance work depends on the dwelling area, the condition of the existing installation, and the complexity of the building. For a 50 m² apartment with partial renovation: 3 to 5 days. For a 100 m² house with complete wiring: 1 to 2 weeks. For a 200 m² villa or commercial premises: 2 to 4 weeks. A partial renovation consists of replacing only the defective or dangerous elements: the outdated electrical panel, a few obsolete circuits, or the absence of ground in certain rooms. This is an economical solution for tight budgets, but it does not guarantee total installation compliance. Full compliance replaces the entire electrical installation: new wiring in all rooms, complete modular panel with all breakers and residual-current devices, general grounding, grounded sockets everywhere, LED lighting, surge protector, and NF C 15-100 compliance certificate.
